# Un'alternativa al gateway dati locale che gira anche su Mac e Linux

Le alternative al gateway dati locale nascono da due motivi: accanto al SQL Server non c'è una macchina Windows libera, oppure ti servono app, non report. Il gateway ha bisogno di una macchina Windows. Il connettore gira anche sulla macchina Linux o macOS già presente in quella rete.

## Collega il tuo SQL Server in tre passaggi

### Installalo vicino al database

Doppio clic su .exe, .pkg o .deb, oppure incolla un comando. Node.js non serve.

### Crea il connettore in AgentUI

In AgentUI apri Connect Apps → SQL Database e clicca Create connector. Ti dà un comando da eseguire sul server.

### Verifica che sia online

La connessione compare come "<nome> (on-prem)". Se il server si riavvia o il servizio va in crash, riparte da solo.

## Cosa vorrà controllare l'IT

- La password del database non lascia mai quel server, e su Windows è salvata cifrata. AgentUI conserva solo un'impronta della chiave del connettore.
- Esegue query SELECT e WITH e nient'altro, e annulla ciascuna quando finisce.
- Con due clic revochi un connettore, e la sua chiave smette di funzionare entro 25 secondi.
- La pagina Your connectors mostra quali server sono online.

## Quando tenere il gateway dati locale

Tienilo se i tuoi report stanno in Power BI, se prendi dati da Oracle, file o altre fonti oltre a SQL Server, o se Power Apps deve scrivere nel database. Il connettore non fa niente di tutto questo.

Sono servizi separati: puoi tenere il gateway per Power BI e aggiungere il connettore per le app che crei in AgentUI.

## Cosa il connettore non farà

- Legge solo Microsoft SQL Server. MySQL, PostgreSQL o Oracle nella tua rete non funzioneranno.
- Ogni query restituisce fino a 1.000 righe e gira fino a 30 secondi. Niente viene copiato o sincronizzato.
- Un workspace contiene fino a 20 connettori, così ogni server o sede può avere il suo.
